Selections+awards

It’s always nice to be picked! Being selected on a elementary school playground was a nice feeling. Winning an award for a contest, also a great feeling. It’s nice to be wanted.

To be clear, there is a wide range of levels of prestige and challenge in life’s various contests. Being the valedictorian in a class of one doesn’t change the fact that you might enjoy some great university scholarships for just showing up. Most of the time, there’s a bit more competition. Well… We are blessed with multiple selections for festivals. This is great! We are definitely hoping for many more to come, but for now, we are thankful that it has started.

Actually, we’ve won a few things along the way as well. Best Cinematography in New York City! Best Social Short in an Indian festival. Best Dramatic Narrative Short in Austin. Great stuff! Fifteen (15) selections as of November 2019, with many other festivals to come.

Earlier this year, a number of people contributed to an IndieGoGo campaign we launched to help fund the final steps of completing ADNAN Far from Home, a short film we produced. In addition to finishing the project, the funding has been used to enter a number of wide-ranging film festivals in an attempt to broaden the number of people who might enjoy seeing this eight minute short film on “the big screen.” It really is amazing to see a project in a theater environment with a crowd. It’s actually very special!

Even though this IndieGoGo campaign officially concluded earlier this year, it is still “UP” on IndieGoGo and still enabled to receive funding since these funds could still go towards the stated goal… entering more festivals. If we understand it correctly, this campaign will continue to be active through at least part of November. Even though it no longer shows a deadline date, you can still click on the various perks found down the right side of the page. You would be added to the final rendition of the project in the future and receive the same perks.

If you would like to read about this project, you can see the UPDATES by clicking here. As these updates state, we are truly appreciative to those who added to the available funding for ADNAN. We are proud that this short film will be seen by more and more over time. If you would like to be part of this, please join us.

International Film

Mustang International producer, J Matt Wallace, has two different international film projects in development. In March 2019, Wallace shot in Istanbul for a second time in 4 months to finish up primary production on a new short film entitled ADNAN. Focusing on a Syrian refugee trying to make his way through the streets of Istanbul.

Later in March, filming was completed for another short film called ALISHER’S GIFT. This film is based in central Asia and addresses family, heritage, culture and religious freedom issues during the Persian New Year, Nowruz, which is celebrated all over central Asia and the middle east.

Both stories will be subtitled in English. ADNAN will be in Arabic and Turkish. ALISHER’S GIFT will be in Uzbek and Kyrgyz.
